Computers and smartphones are getting to the point where everything is sealed in, therefore rendering the devices non-user-repairable. This is bad news for tinkerers, upgraders, and anyone who may want to modify or extend the life of their products.

It’s the inevitability of modern mass production. Newer devices—and even cars— are being made with fewer parts that integrate all the necessary components. This way, you can’t just upgrade or replace items freely. If you wish to upgrade, you’ll either need to replace the whole module (if you can find it) or just replace the whole item altogether.
