360°video is gaining popularity as VR (Virtual Reality) and AR (Augmented Reality) become more mainstream and accessible. Social media channels, like Facebook, are all in on 360° photos and videos and have made it possible for anyone with 360° content to share it with friends and family.
The content
How do you create 360° photos and video? I’ve tried taking 360° panoramas with smartphones. While these aren’t pure 360° aspect images, they can work. I’ve also tried actual 360° cameras; some work well and others, not so much.
Shooting 360° content is quite different from shooting regular photos and video. Since you’re recording everything around you at the same time, you’re likely going to be in the picture as well. For someone that’s enjoyed the anonymity of being behind the lens, this is a completely new situation that might make some people conscious. Personally, I wear black and usually wear a cap, so I don’t draw attention away from the immersive content.
