Playing Warhammer: Vermintide II solo – one antisocial man’s quest to play a co-op game all by himself
Ahh, the Skaven. I love Warhammer’s scheming, skittering ratmen. Or at least, I love bashing them with a sword – they’re a despicable lot, and clear baddies even in Warhammer’s everyone-is-terrible fantasy setting – and Vermintide II offers plenty of chances to do that. But there’s a problem: the game itself is a Warhammer-flavoured Left 4 Dead, and I’m a hermit where playing with strangers online is concerned. I’ve been shouted at down a headset one too many times to make room for online co-op in my gaming diet. Actually, make that 35 too many times. So when I hear that Vermintide II has single-player options, replacing nasty old humans with bots, it’s a cause for celebration. And thus my quest to enjoy an explicitly co-op game all on my own begins.
