Shah Rukh Khan’s Fan seems to decode the ardour and the animosity that a fan holds for a superstar. Rachit Gupta singles out instances where fan frenzy bordered on the maniacal in real-life…
Fans and film stars have always shared a fascinating relationship. Fans go to great lengths to seek their idols, they worship them like deities. Stars soak in the adulation and feed off the attention to fuel their creative pursuits. It’s a symbiotic relationship. Without fans there can be no stars. But some eager admirers take the admiration to unwarranted levels. They turn into fanatics and their actions border on the maniacal. In pursuit of their favourite matinee idols, they tend to become obsessive and abusive. Actresses become easy targets. That doesn’t mean, the actors have it any better. Stalkers, trolls and belligerent individuals end up abusing the limits of this fragile relationship. Sushmita Sen’s horrific ordeal with a mob in Pune was a much publicised event in 2009. Superstars like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra and Akshay Kumar have had their share of run-ins with unruly fans. And the incidents aren’t just limited to chaotic public events. The obsession finds its way to online scenarios, love letters and even to the restroom. Here’s a list of surreal fan encounters that B-town elite have survived to tell the tale...

SHAH RUKH KHAN’S FRACAS AT WANKHEDE STADIUM
Shah Rukh Khan is no outsider to public frenzy. He has a fanatically devout following around the world. His public appearances are always accompanied by a sea of fans pulling and tugging to see King Khan. But SRK’s also witnessed the ugly side of fan mania. During the 2012 IPL, his reported altercation with the security personnel at the Wankhede Stadium got unpleasant. Reportedly, the security had misbehaved with his daughter and her friends. It threw up allegations that SRK even had a tiff with a few fans. The star denied all such purported claims and even issued a press release explaining his side of the story.
