Cinema is a powerful medium to tell a message to the masses. But the way you tell it, makes a big difference. Producer VINOTH KUMAR, director RAJAPANDI and actor VIJAY VASANTH have put together a tale that combines entertainment and social awareness, taking care not to sound too preachy.
“Our idea is to convey a message subtly. There are no long monologues detailing the moral of the story. But if you look close enough you will find some food for thought,” says director Rajapandi about his second directorial venture ACHAMINDRI, which is to be released by SRI THENANDAL FILMS. Produced by Vinoth Kumar for Triple V Records, the movie has Vijay Vasanth, Samuthirakani and Srushti Dange in the lead. Achamindri boasts of having two National Award winners behind the scenes: KL Praveen, the editor and Poornima R, the costume designer. The support cast includes Saranya Ponvannan, Radha Ravi, Karunas and Vidya Pradeep. “Each character plays a significant role in moving the plot forward. And the actors who play those roles have done a fantastic job,” commends the director as he begins to share his Achamindri journey with KAANCHAN PRASHANTH.
COMING TOGETHER
As the name suggests the movie is a thriller and high on action. “I am a fan of thrillers that bring us to the edge of seat wondering ‘what next’ with some amazing twists in the plot. In my previous movie and in Achamindri I have tried to infuse that quality of thrill and suspense. But at the same time the main plot of the story is an issue that everyone can relate to. Anyone who has a child in a school would have at some point been in this situation and it reflects on holes in the system. Something that the Government needs to look into and rectify,” reveals Rajapandi, without revealing too much! Interestingly, Rajapandi’s maiden movie Ennamo Nadakuthu which received reasonably good reviews, had Vijay Vasanth in the lead. “I honestly believe that Vijay Vasanth is a good actor. He has a lot of potential and in the right hands he will shine. There is a spot for him in Tamil cinema, and he will fill that. It’s just a matter of time.”
