HER SONGS HAVE helped mend plenty of broken hearts, but now Taylor Swift is making an impact with her courtroom victory against David Mueller, a former radio deejay host who she said groped her during a meet-and-greet event in 2013.
“I acknowledge the privilege that I benefit from in life, in society and in my ability to shoulder the enormous cost of defending myself in a trial like this,” the superstar said in a statement after a Denver civil court jury ruled in her favor Aug. 14. “My hope is to help those whose voices should also be heard.” On Aug. 10, Swift, 27, was cool and collected as she detailed on the witness stand how Mueller had “grabbed my ass underneath my skirt.” She told Mueller’s lawyer, “I’m not going to let you or your client make me feel in any way that this is my fault.”
