Nick Broomfield examines the turbulent life and tragic death of pop star Whitney Houston in his latest film Whitney: Can I Be Me.

Broomfield seeks to establish how one of the most successful female recording artists of all time ended up a drug addict who was found dead in a hotel bathtub, aged 48, in 2012.

‘I remember Whitney being the most sensationally beautiful person,’ Broomfield recalls. ‘And then suddenly she was this person that everyone was trashing and who then had a tragic death. It’s kind of a puzzle.’
