A new look at the investigation into the Tv presenter’s unsolved murder…
Back in the 1990s, Jill Dando was the BBC’s golden girl, presenting the Six O’Clock News, Crimewatch and the travel show Holiday.
But on 26 April 1999, she was shot and killed on the doorstep of her home in Fulham, south-west London, in a shocking crime that horrified the nation and remains unsolved to this day.
To mark the 20th anniversary of Dando’s tragic death, a new BBC1 documentary goes behind the headlines to tell the full story of the investigation from the point of view of detectives who worked at the heart of the case.
The programme starts with the moment Dando was killed – in broad daylight, by a single shot from a 9mm semi-automatic pistol pressed against her head above her left ear. The 37-year-old’s body would be discovered by her neighbour, Helen Doble, 14 minutes later.
