CORONATION STREET
MON, WED & FRI / ITV / TIMES VARY / SOAP
They say opposites attract, and Weatherfield firecracker Abi Franklin certainly has little in common with predictable partner Kevin Webster. But that doesn’t stop the mechanic pledging her future to her fella this week, popping the question after rescuing him from being locked in the Bistro fridge.
We caught up with stars Sally Carman, 39, and Michael Le Vell, 56, to talk love, weddings, and whether the pair can go the distance...
Michael, tell us firstly about those scenes in the fridge with co-star Sue Devaney (Debbie)…
MICHAEL They were made an awful lot easier because me and Sue had COVID tests, which thankfully came back negative, so we were able to be close together and we managed to give each other a hug. That was really nice because when Sue came back to the show last year, I’d not seen her for ages, and I just wanted to hug her. Kevin’s all layered up because he was going camping, so with that and the studio lights, it got really warm on set. I was trying to act freezing, but I had a trickle of sweat running down my back!
Sally, it’s not every day you find your boyfriend at death’s door in a fridge. Do you think marriage would have been on the cards if it weren’t for Kevin’s ordeal?
