‘I don't behave like a Dame!'

She may be celebrating her 70th birthday this September, but Dame Harriet Walter, we are delighted to tell you, has no intention of putting her feet up. In fact, the star of hit dramas Law & Order: UK and Netflix’s The Crown is enjoying one of the busiest and most varied periods in her five-decade career.

‘I just love doing different things,’ says Dame Harriet, as she chats to TV Times. ‘But I do go back a long way.’

Along with her terrific turn as a troubled pensioner in Sky Atlantic’s ongoing euthanasia story The End, she’s also currently stealing scenes in Lord Julian Fellowes’ latest ITV period saga, Belgravia, as formidable but twinkly-eyed aristocrat Caroline, Lady Brockenhurst.

As Caroline continues to keep her true identity from her secret grandson Charles Pope (Jack Bardoe) this week, Dame Harriet tells us why she’s relishing the role…
