Ruth Jones is incredibly proud of her Welsh heritage. So the Gavin & Stacey star – who was born in Bridgend, South Wales, and raised in the nearby seaside town of Porthcawl – couldn’t wait to delve into her ancestry for BBC1’s Who Do You Think You Are? this week.
And she was delighted to discover that she had Welsh heroes on both sides of her family tree, from her seafaring maternal ancestors to her grandfather, Henry Richard Jones, who worked for a precursor to the NHS.
