Lulu on being reunited with Gary barlow and why she’ll never retire…

When Lulu was asked to join bbc1 talent show Let it Shine as a guest judge, she couldn’t wait to work with Gary Barlow again. She did, of course, first team up with Take That on their Number One hit song Relight My Fire back in 1993.

‘I’ve always been a big fan of Gary, he’s a real talent!’ enthuses Lulu, 68. ‘I think this whole show has a touch of something different about it. I thought they would be looking for Take That lookalikes and soundalikes. But then I arrived on set and thought, wow, there’s a lot of detail on this show that is pretty amazing to see.’

Now the hopefuls have reached the second stage of the selection process and are competing as groups for the very first time, Lulu has been lined up to give her expert opinion. She’s been drafted in to assist Gary, Dannii Minogue and Martin Kemp to whittle down the bands to five – who’ll then go through to the live shows.
