Worzel on sea!

Dig out your bucket and spade as everyone’s favorite talking scarecrow, Worzel Gummidge swaps Scatterbrook Farm for the seaside in a brand-new adventure.

Inspired by the classic books by Barbara Euphan Todd, actor and writer Mackenzie Crook, 49, brought the iconic character alive and back to our screens last year in two well-received specials for BBC1.

This year’s heart-warming and star-spangled eco-tale sees Worzel along with his friends Susan and John (India Brown and Thierry Wickens) navigate their way to the coast on foot, by bus, wheelbarrow, and motorbike on an enchanting quest to realize an old friend’s dream.

In this rare trip away from home, Worzel enjoys seeing wild moorland and the spectacular white cliffs of Seashell.

Here, Mackenzie, who also directs the show, tells TV Times more...

How would you describe this new adventure?

It’s a simple road trip, really. The kids and Worzel find Saucy Nancy, a ship’s figurehead, in a salvage yard and take her back to the seaside.
