Most operations to remove a faulty kidney are relatively simple, but for spirited six-year-old Noah the surgery is tricky. He has Alagille syndrome, a rare genetic condition that caused his right kidney to stop working four years ago.

An operation is risky as his body has created abnormal blood vessels, and removing the kidney could affect the blood supply to his other organs.
