The heir to the throne is gushing over his best birthday present.

When he stepped in at the last minute to save the day and walk Meghan Markle down the aisle when she married Prince Harry earlier this year, an unbreakable bond between Prince Charles and his daughter-in-law was forged.

No one could’ve welcomed Meghan – whose father Thomas Markle had pulled out of his daughter’s magical day on the grounds of health issues – more lovingly into the royal fold than the heir to the throne himself.

Taking her arm, Charles escorted a simply stunning Meghan until she reached the side of his youngest son. And with every step, the future king looked every bit the proud parent... it was as if she were his very own.

It couldn’t have been a more touching tribute and show of affection from the beautiful bride’s new father-in-law.

And now as the palace prepares to celebrate Charles’ landmark 70th birthday this week, it seems he may have already received the greatest gift of all – the daughter he never had – Meghan!

“He adores Meghan and is thrilled that she came into Harry’s life. He was so proud to walk her down the aisle and it was a moment that truly bonded them,” a palace aide confirms.
