JEN GOH, 25
On conquering uncertainties and emerging stronger
In 2015, national golfer Jen Goh suddenly found she could not move her right arm after playing golf. After going to more than 30 doctors and still failing to get a diagnosis, she gave up — but it was her faith and the support of her family that kept her going.
Two years later, Goh was diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome. Four surgeries later, she is now working to “bulletproof” herself against future injuries. Inspired by what she went through, she co-founded Hopefull in 2020, an initiative to support children who lack the resources to chase their dreams in the arts, sports, and music.
When I hit rock bottom… I found strength that I never knew I had. Regardless of whether I “recovered”; it was the fight that mattered.
I used to be… obsessed with achieving my goals. Going through this made me realize that there is more to life and that I have so much to be thankful for.
Now… I am more intentional about practicing gratefulness and self-love and adopting a growth mindset. I’m driven by a genuine desire to explore my fullest potential.
