Mikka Marcaida has made a career out of making women look and feel their best. Her signature style of luscious, dewy skin and captivating eyes, is like wearing a filter in real life. Suffice to say, her muses never leave her chair without a confident smile on their faces. Despite all the effusive praise thrown her it's a surprise to discover that despite being armed with boxes full of makeup growing up, she isn't one to doll herself up. “I started as a makeup hoarder back in college when the YouTube makeup community was just getting started. Because of the number of products I acquired, I eventually practiced on my family and my friends,” Marcaida shares. This is what eventually what made her ask for a trip to the International Make-up Artists Trade Show (IMATS) as her graduation gift . “That's when I met so many passionate people in the industry and I felt home! It was as if I fell in love with makeup even more," she recounts. This ultimately sealed her future in beauty because she soon found herself fully booked with bridal clients and working with major personalities—despite her family's initial doubts. “Nine years later, here I am making a living through the passion I fought for and believed in. It was never easy but I'm glad I took a leap of faith,” she says.
