Maintaining consistency with regard to your training routine and diet throughout winter can be challenging, even for the most dedicated athlete.
I know that I struggle to keep getting up at the same time every day. But that’s a natural response to a shift in your biorhythms in accordance with the changing season. The best way to deal with that, though, is by staying consistent with your routine. Regardless of the time of year, I always try to be in bed by 9pm and have my alarm set to wake me up at 4h50.
My diet:
Where I do implement more pronounced changes is in my diet. As I aim to eat predominantly raw, fresh fruit and veg, a cold salad can seem unappetising in the cold of winter. That’s why I add warm elements to my regular dishes, like roasted veg. I also try not to cut anything from my diet in winter to keep my food choices consistent, but obviously the availability of seasonal produce changes.
