What was your preparation like for the second season of Iron Fist?
Four to five months ahead of shooting, I started working with a personal trainer, training three to four times a week. We approached weight training from a gymnastics point of view—what that means is that I’m using my own body weight to become strong. What I didn’t want to do is put on muscle, because: A) That’s not the aesthetic of the character, and B) that would make you be tight, and to be a martial artist you need to be flexible. So through using gymnastics style training, I was able to stay lean and add muscle but also be physically flexible.
