Ridgid R4850 Planer
Popular Woodworking|April 2022
The already well-regarded Ridgid thickness planer just got an upgrade. Ridgid, the Home Depot exclusive brand, just announced an upgrade to their thickness planer. The new R4850 offers some great features that make it a good option for your shop.

The new R4850s feature heavier-duty construction all around. The three-knife cutter head leaves a smooth surface, and the location of the feed rollers in relation to the knife head virtually eliminates snipe. The cutter head runs at 10,000 RPM and makes 90 cuts per inch. The maximum depth of cut is about 1/8, which is fairly standard with lunch-box style planers.
