The new R4850s feature heavier-duty construction all around. The three-knife cutter head leaves a smooth surface, and the location of the feed rollers in relation to the knife head virtually eliminates snipe. The cutter head runs at 10,000 RPM and makes 90 cuts per inch. The maximum depth of cut is about 1/8, which is fairly standard with lunch-box style planers.
