Few holiday locations spark quite the same outpouring of opinion as Ibiza. Bobbing contentedly 90 miles off the coast of Valencia, the third largest of the Balearic Islands steals a march over its siblings for hedonism (the land of all night raves, albeit a genteel strain thereof). Yet what is truly captivating about the island is just how much variety of content exists in such a tiny geographical area – from high-octane to utterly restful – all elements rub along side by side in blended harmony.

Spanning just 60 kilometres head to toe, about half the island, particularly the rugged north east is covered with dense foliage, thick pine forests and olive, fig and fruit farms, while the coastline is characterised by dozens of cosy bays, walking trails, and out-of-the-way beaches. Northerly resorts such as Santa Eularia, Es Cana and Puerto de San Miguel are growing in popularity with families and jaded city dwellers seeking a quieter, slower paced getaway experience, while the livelier south around Ibiza Town, Playa d’en Bossa and the party-on Mecca of San Antonio have captured the imagination of a younger international crowd who don’t like to sit still.

While international demand for property has always been strong, for many agents, 2016 is turning out to be a bumper year, with new product to promote and an expanded summer schedule of direct flights from key European hubs.
