An Intentional Collage of Colors, Patterns and Styles Gives This Quaint Cottage a Quirky Flair.

THE MODERN-DAY TREASURE HUNT BEGINS at the local flea market. Caroline Van Slyke skillfully uses her unique taste, artistic background and practicality to curate an assemblage of elegantly eccentric vintage finds. Caroline is an interior designer who manages a lifestyle website, Boho Farm + Home.

“I like to mix the new with the antiques,” she says of her creative process. “For me, mixing pattern and color comes as second nature, but I do attribute that to the core art classes I had to take in school. Color theory, two-dimensional design, three dimensional design and drawing all taught me something about balance, scale and color.”

DANCE TO YOUR OWN TUNE

Caroline’s interiors, as multifaceted and dynamic as they are, come together as a stylistic whole because of her unapologetic faithfulness to her aesthetic.

“I really don’t have a specific style per se,” she says. “I just get what I like and make it all go together. I follow my own rules.”
