Pune-based Kapil Gandhi’s Neo-classical Style Bungalow Designed by a Team of Three Talented Professionals Is Truly Awe-inspiring.
This bungalow is located in Kothrud, Pune, at the Arai foothill with a reserve forest as a backdrop. This is the home of Kapil Gandhi, a Civil Engineer by qualification and MD of the real estate developer company Sigma One Landmarks.
The concept of this home was basically a large spacious home with all modern conveniences with a hint of traditional style. Three professionals were roped in to design this magnificent home that includes Architect Vinod Dhusia, Interior Designer Shitesh Agrawal and Landscape Architect Umesh Wakale and the client gave them full creative freedom to interpret the same. “We went with a Neoclassical theme for the house. My mother Usha Gandhi, likes classical furniture, wooden carvings and courtyard style elements like the Jharoka, wooden doors with carvings and engravings, basic wooden drawers without modern hinges and fixtures. We have tried to neatly blend this into our home, which I have dedicated to her,” says Kapil.
There is a quaint touch courtesy the handcrafted blue tiles in the courtyard and old style chairs around it. The entrance of the house opens into a central open to sky courtyard, which has a soothing waterbody and a triple-height stone wall with intricate carvings. Two windows, which open into this courtyard have been designed as traditional Jharokas.
