The new-age salons have emerged as personal care spaces quite unlike the salons of the past. And needless to say, décor and an eye for detail play a vital role in bringing them to life. The interiors, and the interactive ambience plays a major role in the success of a venture.

One example of a benchmark in new salon design is that of the newly opened Shiva’s Signature Salon in Walkeshwar, Mumbai, designed by Mustafa Sura of Mustafa S. Sura & Associates. The 3,000 sq. ft. salon features a hair spa area, a first-of-its kind Kérastase Lounge, male grooming area, pedicure station, nail bar area, bridal make-up room, spa room and a couples’ spa room with a Jacuzzi. Every area is unique and a testament in good design.

Propreitor Shivarama Bhandary, popularly known as Shiva, has a chain of 15 salons in Mumbai, and this Signature Salon is more spacious than the rest. With a history of success (one of his salons won Best Hair Salon in Mumbai, in 1988), his clientele includes prominent personalities of business, Bollywood and from the political fraternity.
