Vacations involve long hours of plane rides, different climates, water sports and other fun, vigorous activities. However, many do not realise that their skin may not be prepped well enough for the new environment until they arrive at their destination. What fun is it being on holiday with clogged pores or dry, itching skin?
Which is why, with the holiday peak period approaching, Beauty Cosmedica gets travelling skincare tips from beauty experts so that you are well-equipped to help ready your clients who are going on vacation.
Increase Skin’s Moisture Level
It is important to increase your skin’s moisture level with suitable products two weeks before your trip, especially if you are travelling to a country with a very cold climate that would dry your skin. Switch your cleansing gel to cleansing milk or oil, and lotions or water-based moisturisers to rich, moisturising creams. I would also recommend using a hydrating mask twice a week, a few weeks before your trip.
Protect Your Skin
If you are going to a country that has the same tropical climate as Singapore, it is not necessary to change your daily regime. However, if you are participating in activities like diving, you may want to ensure that you use a waterproof high spectrum sunblock. If you are going to be out in the sun most of the time, spray on facial mist on top of your sun protection to keep skin cool and fresh.
What To Avoid
Do avoid invasive treatments like IPL or Radio Frequency as they may cause burns and disturbance to the skin cells’ activity levels. Treatments like these come with downtime and it is advisable to stay away from the sun for a while to avoid unsightly skin pigmentation.
