The county’s fashion pack will beat a path over the border to Chatsworth for a new exhibition. It’s all thanks to the Cheshire-born Countess Burlington, writes Janet Reeder
LONDON may have a compelling new exhibition of Princess Diana’s fashion story at Kensington Palace but Cheshire-born Lady Burlington of Chatsworth House is ensuring we have a marvellously posh fashion exhibition not so very far from home.
Until October 22nd this year Chatsworth will present its most ambitious exhibition to date, ‘House Style: Five Centuries of Fashion at Chatsworth’ which has been a labour of love for former model Laura Cavendish, Countess of Burlington.
The daughter of City businessman Richard Roundell, deputy chairman of Christie’s and his wife Anthea, was brought up at Dorfold Hall, the Jacobean mansion in Acton near Nantwich, and she married the heir to Chatsworth’s Duke of Devonshire in 2006.
Over several years she has collaborated with Hamish Bowles, International Editor-at-Large at American Vogue, to create this landmark show.
