THE WALK
1. From the entrance of the Visitor Centre bear left, heading towards the Naze Tower. Go past the tower and across the green then left along the cliff. At the information board in the corner of the green, follow the path that runs through the scrub and vegetation and keep right to follow the path along the cliff face. At the next junction go left towards the World War II pillbox then right at the pillbox, going down a wide dusty track. Keep straight on along the grassy track by the cliff. This takes you to the raised sea wall where you turn left.
2. Follow the Tarmac path. This is not a public footpath, but a path within the nature reserve. The Port of Felixstowe can be seen on the opposite side of the estuary. You reach an information board telling you about Hamford Water and the Nature Reserve on the Naze peninsular. The path bends left and becomes a narrower grass path. To the right are the creeks and pools of Cormorant Creek and beyond is the town of Harwich. Continue for over half a mile. Eventually, you reach the Walton Channel where the path bends left. There is another information board about the Walton backwaters. Proceed along the sea wall path.
