The Indiana resident dabbles in several artistic forms, though the art graduate showcases her visual art most readily. Her drawings and paintings feature wide-eyed, slightly morose characters that are vaguely reminiscent of Edward Gorey’s work. Using watercolor and ink as well as more nontraditional mediums like coffee, tea, or wine, Sophia creates pieces that allow us a glimpse into her mind. She shares that her art reflects her personality: “When I'm alone I'm an insane weirdo, I talk to myself in silly voices and laugh for the dumbest reasons. When I'm around other people I'm either very quiet, a grump-face or I'm trying to act more like a civilized human being because although socializing may make me super anxious, I still like to be kind and respectful to people. The last one drains the life out of me so I don't go out much. I think those moods and expressions show up a lot in my art. They're pretty much all self portraits in a way.”
