Members of sea org live in cramped and overcrowded dorms
Shock Photos Inside Scientology Headquarters

Photographs of the sleeping and living quarters of thousands of hardcore Scientologists have been released for the first time. Now there are fears thousands of devout believers “packed like sardines” into dorms like the ones pictured could cause the COVID-19 virus to spread like “wildfire” even though the church claims it’s had “zero cases”.

Former members have revealed how Sea Org workers are forced to live in cramped, unhygienic conditions in tightly packed dormitories, sometimes with four-high bunk beds up to the ceiling. It’s been claimed that in the Los Angeles base of the secretive Sea Org offshoot of the controversial religion, between 20 and 30 members at a time are packed into small rooms.

Those who violate Sea Org’s notoriously strict rules have even less personal space. They are made to sleep in what’s called “pigs berthing”, where they sleep side-by-side on the floor of dirty, windowless rooms.

Sea Org is sometimes referred to as the religion’s secret police.

Members work for very low pay, in challenging conditions and sign “billion-year” contracts to prove their loyalty.
