Tata doesn&rsquo;t want the Tigor to be called a compact sedan. The company refers to it as the &lsquo;Styleback&rsquo;. When we took our first gander at Tata&rsquo;s upcoming car, we can understand why it would want to distinguish it from the crowd.Tigor is stylish. It takes advantage of Tata&rsquo;s &lsquo;Impact design language&rsquo; that first made its way to Tiago and recently, the Hexa. Tata is continuing the same design philosophy with attractive exterior design and practical use of space inside the cabin for the customer.Tigor gets a dual-coloured bumper with a signature grille and smoked projector head lamps on the front with the coup&eacute;-like roof blending with the back, and split LED taillight and high-mounted LED stop lamp. Interestingly, the 15-inch diamond-cut alloys that also add to the style quotient won&rsquo;t be available on the diesel variant that comes with 14-inch rims. The result is a striking design compared to the other compact sedans and is bound to turn some heads on the road.The cabin offers good legroom and headroom and there are utility spaces for ample storage inside the car. There&rsquo;s also dual-tone dashboard in the front with colour-matched air vents, and patterned seats with bolsters that gives the car a premium look. Tata has also worked on the in-cabin NVH level, which keeps the outside noise to a minimum.The company has been amping up its infotainment system and it&rsquo;s evident in Tigor as well. The car is equipped with the Connect Next infotainment system developed by Harman (now owned by Samsung). The eight speakers inside the car are optimised and tuned by Harman audio experts and also comes with a 5-inch touch screen display. The touch screen is responsive but the screen is not legible at all in direct sunlight.The Connect Next system is more or less the same as the one on Hexa and Tiago but expands slightly on the number of supported apps on the smartphone. In addition to few standard apps, the system supports the Bluetooth-based Tata Smart Remote and the Tata Emergency Assist app that shares the coordinates and messages the pre-selected contacts in case of an accident. While handy in theory, for the emergency-assist app to relay a location, it needs a smartphone to be connected to the infotainment system as it relies on the phone&rsquo;s GPS. In other words, if your phone can&rsquo;t find a GPS lock or gets disconnected from the infotainment system during a collision, you&rsquo;re out of luck! The diesel engine, on the other hand, is a 1.05L Revotron engine achieving 70 PS of power and 140Nm of torque. The car also features multi-drive modes like Eco and City that offers better fuel efficiency and a peppy driving experience.In terms of safety, Tigor sports dual front airbags, ABS and Corner Stability Control (CSC) for improved braking.Tata hasn&rsquo;t revealed the price (at the time of going to press) but if Tiago and Hexa prices are any indication, we expect Tigor to be very aggressively priced.
