Ever Wondered Why Good Things Always Seem to Happen to Someone Else? Maybe You’re Sabotaging Your Own Achievements!
Daily life can be stressful. Between your kids, partner, finances, health and to-do list, this game of life can seem impossible. The remarkable thing about your situation is that the common denominator among all of those challenges is you. While the external world seems to pull you in every direction, it’s your internal terrain that determines how successful you are.
Lucy Sheridan and Jo Westwood, life coaches and co-authors of #HigherSelfie, add to this sentiment. ‘Our thoughts are like a radio station we are tuned into all the time. What we have playing on loop will influence not only how we perceive ourselves, but our abilities to alter and change. Overthinking can really put the brakes on the positive change we want to bring into our lives. At best this can lead to procrastination, and at worst it can stop us from ever realising our dreams and potential. Our thoughts have a more powerful influence over us than anything else, no matter how dominant your boss, parents or partner might be in your life.’ Self-sabotaging thoughts can be an enemy tactic you use against yourself.
For some, this can show up in constantly being late for meetings, so you remain in a state of stress. For others, it may show up as perfectionism, where you focus on being in control and being the best, which is not only unsustainable, it’s also subjective.
SO WHAT IS ‘SUCCESS’?
