Time to post a flyer on the wall. What do fans need to know about These Raven Skies right now?

These Raven Skies are planning a return tour to the USA and an inaugural trip to the UK and Europe in 2015. We’ll be playing a hometown show with our producer, Jeff Martin as his band, The Tea Party, comes to town.

How did you come up with your band’s name?

We were planning to name ourselves after a Tea party song either These Living Arms or Raven Skies. We decided to mash them up and named ourselves These Raven Skies. We liked the imagery behind the raven and felt there was a good fit for the music that we were creating.

How did you guys meet and come together as a band?

We all met while we were in different bands that had toured together in the past. We decided to jam together and the rest was history! We started a band called Dreams of Reason that after a lot of typical rock-n-roll drama, fizzled out, and later we became These Raven Skies. TRS is basically a reunion of sorts with a totally different approach to song-craft.

Please briefly explain your music creation process?

We tend to jam things out. We like to go for a certain feel and you can definitely tell which songs have “life” and a vibe that you want to develop further. Once we have the musical foundation down we start working on melodies and lyrical ideas, but it all starts with a live off the floor jam session. It’s a pretty organic, back to basics approach to song-writing.
