1st & Ten With Jordan Mills

It’s been an up-and-down year for the Bills offensive line, but Jordan Mills has been there every step of the way as a reliable and trusted veteran at right tackle.

The 26-year-old has started all but five games for the team over the last three seasons and has played in every offensive snap for the team this year, starting all 12 games played. Bills Digest recently caught up with the Louisiana Tech product for his thoughts on everything that’s taken place this year with the offensive line and with the Bills overall as a team.

1 It seems like it’s been an up-and-down year for the team and an up-and-down year for the offensive line. How would you say things have gone now that we’re heading into the season’s final stretch?

A: Like you said, it’s been an up-and-down year. We’ve just got to find that little itch and just stay consistent. That’s one of the things Coach McDermott has been really preaching is being consistent. After you succeed or fail, what are you going to do next to improve yourself? So we’ve just got to keep working and just find that level of consistency and when we find success how can we sustain it moving forward?

2 You’ve been in this league awhile. What is important and what stands out when it comes to being consistent?

A: Focusing on the little things, technique and everything like that. It’s not so much the big things that get you in trouble or lose you games. It’s the little things. You hear Danny Crossman says every day in our special teams meetings or in our meetings before the games, he tells us it’s the little things that win or lose games around the league and that’s what we need to get better at. Little things like technique to step depending on blocks and stuff like that and getting consistent and succeeding at that. And once we consistently do that, we’ll get this thing rolling.
