What Bills Fans Are Saying

Thoughts on the big trades

The Bills basically traded two starters for two capable second stringers plus two good future draft picks. Sammy Watkins (foot, hip, hammy, others), Gaines (foot), Mathews (knee, ankle), all have injury histories which could disappoint. On paper, though, each team came out better off by addressing a main need. If it works out well for everybody, it makes for cooperative trade partnerships in the future. I hope the Bills don’t give up those extra picks before next year’s draft. — Christopher D’Angelo

The guys we got in return are upgrades to Watkins and Darby, and we got draft picks on top of it. Great move by Brandon B.— Lawrence McElroy

Once again the Bills fans suffer another year. Rather than keep veterans they choose to look to the future that is always questionable. Draft picks are here for three years and if any good go for the money somewhere else. The future is now. Take a lesson from the Patriots and the George Allen Redskins.— Richard Maier

Absolutely hate it and love it at the same time. It’s BOLD. I just hope it’s the best decision. I hope this Gaines kid is worth it and I hope that Matthews is good enough to take the top off. Next year’s draft should be pretty exciting. We may need that excitement after this season.— Justin Eimer

The bombshell trades will benefit us right away... Ron has looked average and Sammy could be done with his career at any time. All fans and coaches hold their breath every time he steps on the field. BONUS... the draft picks for 2018 are hugh for the future. Can’t wait for the season to begin!— Bob Benzing
