A Weekend Of Surprises
Lure Angler|Spring 2017
A wreck fishing trip out of Brighton had mixed results for a group led by Lloyd Malsbury. The trip was one of surprises for Lloyd and although lures were the method of choice, it seems a lot of involuntary groundbaiting had occurred.
A Weekend Of Surprises

We had arrived the night before at Hove, to fish out of Brighton the next day.

My first surprise was with the accommodation, it was a Best Western Hotel. Usually fishing with my son Lewis, son in law Rob and their friends means 2 large rooms in a B&B to sleep 12.

A not too early start saw us at the Marina for about 7.30 am, it was a clear, bright day and the sun was shining. The Skipper and his Mate cast us off, whilst the boys were all discussing their expectations of the day. As we ate the breakfast rolls that the hotel had kindly supplied for us, we headed on out to sea.

After a while the Marina and it’s new tower where vanishing from sight, I then asked the skipper how far we were going out?

My second surprise, he said approximately 30 miles!
