From a winner in a reality TV show to becoming an international model and actor, Teddy Tang hones his skills as he travels regularly between Singapore and Taiwan.
Singaporean actor/model Teddy Tang is living the dream – jet-setting between Taiwan and Singapore as he juggles acting, hosting and modelling jobs. Talent scouted during his university days, Teddy took part in the first season of reality television series Hey Gorgeous, and represented Nanyang Technological University of Singapore in the talent competition. After claiming the winning title, he was approached by multiple modelling agencies. The modelling jobs took Teddy to Hong Kong, China, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan, where he was offered a contract with modelling agency Catwalk. He decided to settle down in that city, and focused on modelling. Last year, he was given an opportunity to take on a role in Channel 5’s television series Tanglin, which had led him to more drama series and variety shows.
Acting, hosting, modelling… Which is your favourite?
I enjoyed modelling back in Taiwan, but at the same time, I felt that I have been doing that for a long time and I needed to grow and evolve as an artiste before I get overly complacent. I remember when I first started acting and hosting, everyday was a new challenge. Back then, I did not know much about acting or hosting and I often got so disappointed with my own performance that my co-stars had to turn around and encourage me. It was only after some time (and a few acting and voice projection lessons) that I started to understand how to act and host that my interest in them started to grow even more. But as you know, artistes nowadays have to be really good in every aspect so I definitely would want to pursue all three aspects further.
