WHY DID YOU WRITE THIS BOOK?
I grew up without any visible role models in the game. It was an era where there was no women’s football on the telly, you just couldn’t see anyone, so you couldn’t believe in it. I was really keen to increase visibility of the game through the book, and to celebrate where the game has been. There are game-changers who have done incredible work and pioneered the game. There was no money in it; they played it because they loved it. They used to work full time, and would train and play. I wrote it to celebrate all those people, all those incredible women who got the game to where it is now.
