Cops Give Mask Warning To FM

Nicola Sturgeon had her knuckles rapped by police yesterday for flouting her own rules on masks.

The First Minister was spoken to by officers after they received a complaint about her not wearing a face covering during a visit to a barber's.

The embarrasment for Sturgeon came on the day the strict rules on masks in Scotland finally came to an end - the last place in the UK to enforce them.

Police said no further action would be taken against the SNP leader after she was caught on camera on the election trail in East Kilbride on Saturday.

Sturgeon also apologised for her blunder, which sparked calls for her to face a fine after her slating of Boris Johnson over Partygate.

She said yesterday: While campaigning outdoors in East Kilbride, I was invited into a local barber shop. After a few seconds of being in the shop, I realised I had forgotten to put my face covering back on. I then immediately put it on.

“However, I accept that not wearing a face covering even for a few seconds was an error on my part and I am sorry for that.

“Having received complaints about the matter, Police Scotland made contact with me.
