UNDERFIRE LEADER OPTS NOT TO MEET 'CRITIC' DOUGLAS ROSS

BORIS Johnson was ridiculed when he visited Scotland yesterday and didn't meet MSPs from his own party.

The Prime Minister made a flying visit to Rosyth Dockyard but couldn't find the time to meet Scottish Conservatives' leader Douglas Ross.

Johnson has faced repeated calls to resign from Tories north of the Border in the wake of the Partygate scandal.

Last month Ross said that numerous reports of social gatherings at No 10 during the height of lock-down meant Johnson's position was no longer tenable.

Yesterday, the PM tried to insist he was still working very hard” with Scots colleagues.

But he was branded a threat to the Union by Labour and faced questions over his authority in Scotland.

Johnson used the visit to Fife to promote a deal between the Scottish and UK Governments which will lead to the creation of two freeports - with Rosyth tipped as a potential location.
