DIM-WITTED dognappers really did bite off more than they could chew when they tried to steal Nellie, a warzone combat dog.
The would-be thieves made a grab for the 4st 10lb Belgian Malinois after pretending to chat to her owner.
The breed is normally used by the US army in conflict areas – and the crooks leaped back in terror when the powerful mutt bared her teeth and lunged at them. The shocked pair then fled.
