CHANNEL 4 TO AIR FINALE LIVE
FORMULA One’s season finale is to be shown live on free-to-air television.
Channel 4, who had been scheduled for a highlights package only, have struck a deal with Sky Sports to share the live rights to the race, as Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen battle it out for the 2021 championship.
The title rivals are level on points going into the final race, which starts at 1 pm on Sunday.
C4 previously agreed a deal with Amazon Prime to show Emma Raducanu’s US Open triumph and broadcast England’s Cricket World Cup victory over New Zealand in 2019.
MAX VERSTAPPEN and Lewis Hamilton have been warned not to do anything that would tarnish their reputations in the season finale in Abu Dhabi on Sunday.
A DNF for both Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton at Yas Marina would give the Dutchman the title by virtue of his nine grands prix wins to Hamilton’s eight, despite being level on points in the drivers’ standings.
