Delhi Police arrested Yunus Imam alias Sonu Chikna who was caught on camera shooting at policemen and at the Hanuman Jayanti procession in Jahangirpuri on Saturday evening. The special staff of northwest district police tracked down Imam using technical surveillance and arrested him on Monday.
The cops also arrested a scrap dealer, Sheikh Hameed, who had allegedly supplied the bottles that were used as missiles during the violence.
Dependra Pathak, special commissioner, law & order, confirmed the arrests and said that investigation was in full swing to bring the perpetrators to task. Union home minister Amit Shah has directed Delhi Police officials to take the strictest action against all culprits to set an example in order to prevent recurrence of such incidents.
