Reaching early
One of the most important steps that you can take to ensure a good shoot is reaching early to your location. It doesn’t matter if it is happening on the white sands of a sunny beach or inside a comfortable air-conditioned studio. Reaching early will help you identify the problems early on during the shoot and hence you get more time to solve those problems. For instance, if an electrical power outlet doesn’t work, you can try connecting the lights to the other power sockets in the studio, but this might require you to have an extension cord as the other socket might be at some distance from the setup. So, if you reach early you can talk to the staff members of the studio and ask them to arrange for an extension cord. This way you don’t waste time after all your crew members are ready for the shoot. Also, reaching early means having some time alone which you could use to plan for a few different creative shots apart from the ones that were already decided.
