Contenders
The contenders for the shootouts this month are the Canon EOS 6D Mark II and the Nikon D780. Now the Canon has been launched in 2017 while the D780 has been launched in 2020. So ideally the Nikon being the latest product in this segment should have the upper hand. But as previous shootouts have revealed it isn't always necessary that the new products are always the best in class sometimes.
• Canon EOS 6D Mark II
• Nikon D780
Parameters
Like every year the parameters for the shootout are same. These include the following:
• Look, Body and Feel
• Image Quality
• Value for money
Look, Body and Feel
Canon EOS 6D Mark II
The Canon EOS 6D Mark II was released in June of 2017 and features a comfortable grip for use. The smoothed-over curves of the top plate, buttons, and dials not only look beautiful, but they also make the 6D Mark II simpler to use, as you can just glide your fingertips over the surfaces to reach the buttons. These are organised in a logical way and are simple to remember. The 6D II has Wi-Fi as well as Bluetooth with NFC for quick and easy pairing with Android devices. If you have an Apple iPhone, Bluetooth is somewhat ineffective; it can automatically connect your smartphone with the camera when both are turned on, but you still have to actively activate Wi-Fi, whether in settings or via the app, to do anything with Canon's Camera Connect software. The body is constructed of magnesium alloy and fiber and is quite hefty and well built. For someone who is using this camera, it is nice and sturdily built which means it scores well in this department.
