Since time immemorial, Vedas, Shastras, Puranas– all these scriptures have been the source of inspiration for humankind. The solution related to each and every question confronted by a being in his life has been satisfactorily elucidated in these texts by the Realised Souls. However, the assertions of the Sages are not limited to spiritual, philosophical, and ethical views; instead, they are the storehouse of deep scientific revelations as well. To support this fact, we are presenting some insightful excerpts through the platform of Akhand Gyan– Eternal Wisdom. Highlighting the concepts of Physics, these excerpts are drawn from the great epic Ramcharitmanas by Goswami Tulasidas Ji.
FRICTION
In the year 1840, an English Physicist, James Prescott Joule, came to the following conclusion on the basis of his experiments: “Friction is the force resisting the relative motion of solid surfaces, fluid layers, and material elements sliding against each other. When surfaces in contact move relative to each other, the friction between the two surfaces converts kinetic energy into heat.”
In the syllabus of modern science, this theory of friction was presented before the society on the basis of Joule's experiment. But you will be amazed to know that Goswami Tulsidas Ji had articulated this theory of friction many years ago in the Ramcharitmanas.
