A brewing hot cup of coffee is all it takes to set the mood right on the track... Could we replace the coffee with something else? Well! The choice is yours...
People dispense advice to us freely, isn't it? Well, we should also agree to the fact that we ourselves do not think before offering our own gems of advice to others. Suggestion, counsel, and guidance given by the right person at the right time has the potential ability to direct an individual's approach in a seemingly drastic way. Friends come on top of the list in guiding you, especially when stuck in the depth of emotional turmoil. One such piece of advice from a dear friend pulled my reins on track. When things did not work out the way I intended them to, anger broke out.
It was a day at work. After a week of sick leave, I resumed duty with a new zest, wanting to present my project to the MD. I had dressed up in my most professional outfit and tried to be as composed as I could. I had reached office an hour early. Sitting at my cubicle, I gazed at the computer and looked back at my career journey. Every project, big or small, I've worked with utmost dedication.
There was this particular one that was close to my heart. This project had squeezed out all my creativity. Getting the project was the first success. Ten months of hardships, with not a single day's leave, no holidays, conference calls, meetings, working all night long, sacrificing family time, festivals and get-togethers. These were the investments I had made. But the goddess of fortune was not on my side. Sleeplessness and irregular eating took a toll on my health. I fell sick and after taking a week off, here I was in the office today. I was sure that today was 'THE day' when all my hardships would be paid off. The meeting with the MD would kick start my project. It would go live and soon be implemented in various branches. It would be big breakthrough in the present system.
