Suunto's adaptive training guidance, which looks at the intensity and duration of your workouts and creates weekly training plans, is great for newbies. You'll need to use the app for a lot of the navigation features, but the watch's own real-time breadcrumb trails should get you home.
The fitness-tracking features are standard fare, including steps and calories burned. We found real-time heart-rate readings to be a little high, which makes it hard to trust the stress readings and breakdown of your body's daily resource levels, but the sleep duration data seemed reliable.
