From pristine white beaches to verdant mountains and folktales of fairies battling giants, Vietnam’s coastal town of Nha Trang has something for everyone. SAYONI SINHA plays the tropical flâneuse.
It’s five in the morning, and the seaside town of Nha Trang, nestled along the eastern coast of Vietnam, is already bustling. The beach is dotted with tourists, fishing boats bob on the rocky sea, and morning walkers look like moving dots in a matrix from our sea-facing suite on the top floor of Novotel Nha Trang. The luxury boutique hotel affords unobstructed views of the glorious coastline, and consequently, an aerial insight into the hectic proceedings of the promenade that kisses the beach. A group has assembled for a synchronised workout on upbeat tunes, while elderly onlookers perch on nearby benches. As the sun rises higher in the sky, the locals make themselves scarce and tourists begin splaying out on the beach.
