Actor Radhika Apte Has Created a Niche for Herself in the Indian Film Industry With Outstanding Performances in a Range of Roles. And With More Than Five Releases Lined Up, She’s All Set to Be 2018’s Shining Star.
It’s 11:00 pm on a Wednesday when I finally get to speak to Radhika Apte. She is on the road, returning from Pune to Mumbai after an all-day event and is obviously tired, but doesn’t mention her fatigue. In fact, the interview took a fair amount of coordination given Radhika’s chock-a-block schedule. Even though she didn’t appear on the big screen in 2017, she’s spent the year working non-stop. Films, commercials, events, shoots, appearances and balancing a bi-continental life, her time continues to be strictly rationed as 2018 promises to be one of the biggest ones for the actress. It starts with Patrick Graham’s horror flick Ghoul this month, followed by the Akshay Kumar-starrer Padman, where she plays his wife, releasing on January 26. Then there is Sacred Games for Netflix with Saif Ali Khan, Nikhil Advani’s Bazaar, Shoot The Piano Player with Sriram Raghavan and Ayushmann Khurrana, and Bombay Talkies 2 with Anurag Kashyap in which she has collaborated with the director to pen the story. “You will get to see me a lot in 2018,” she laughs.
